How to Beat Nighttime Hunger

One of the biggest weight loss challenges is beating those nasty hunger pains in the middle of the night. But are they really that harmful and should you avoid them at all costs? After all, a proper nutritional balance is vital for achieving your desired figure, meaning that you should intake just the ammount of energy that your body needs.

The organism degrades muscles into energy when it has no food left and that’s the main reason why body builders eat all the time, no matter if at day or nighttime.

If your goal is to gain weight so as to build muscles, midnight snacks are the perfect way to do so. But if you’re looking to lose weight, than you will have to find a way to control nighttime hunger. So here are some great tips on how to actually do that:

  • Avoid hot meals for dinner, as they tend to increase your appetite.
  • Drink more liquids (including water) before bedtime. They give you the impression that you’re full.
  • Wash your teeth after you finish dinner and not before you go to bed. The reasons are deeply psychological, as the process of washing your teeth is associated with end of mealtimes.
  • Find an alternative to eating, because many people like you do it of boredom.
  • You can tame appetite with pressure, according to Reader’s Digest: when you feel weak-willed against your appetite, try pinching the small area of cartilage where your jaws hinge just below the ears, which some acupuncturists claim is an appetite control point. Hold for about half a minute.
  • Snack wisely. Grapes and oranges are one of the most satisfying foods.

So in case you’re looking for weight loss, try to snack as least as possible after 19:00 to 20:00pm, especially after you have these six power-helpers in mind.
